Sequence Detection Of Crankcase Bearing Sets

Automotive Components Manufacturer:
A leading manufacturing company serving the automotive industry, specializing in high-precision components for engine, transmission, axle, chassis, and suspension systems. The client caters to a diverse range of OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers with stringent quality and assembly requirements.
Engine Bearing Caps Packaging Errors:
One of the quality issues occurred in once or twice in a quarter during the packaging of engine bearing caps, which must be arranged in a specific ascending order, with directional arrows always facing left. Despite following a manual checklist, the packaging team occasionally placed caps in the wrong sequence or orientation, leading to errors at the client's assembly line. These mistakes caused production halts, for which the client was financially penalized by their customers due to downtime.
AI Vision System for Packaging:
To eliminate human error and ensure packaging accuracy, we developed an AI-powered vision inspection system using industrial cameras and custom-trained computer vision models. The system performs real-time validation of the packaged bearing caps, verifying both:
• The correct ascending order of the caps
• The consistent orientation with arrows pointing to the left
If any deviation is detected, the system immediately flags the issue, and stop the packaging machine to prevent incorrect shipments from leaving the facility
This project showcases how our intelligent vision systems help manufacturers enforce packaging compliance, reduce human error, and protect business relationships in high-stakes industrial environments
