Measurements For Flexible Plastic Cartridges

Plastic Dispensing Leader:
A prominent manufacturer, exporter, and supplier of a wide range of plastic dispensing products including cartridges, gel syringes, packaging components, manual caulking guns, and pneumatic dispensing systems. The client uses premium-grade raw materials and advanced manufacturing technologies to serve global markets.
QI Challenges in Manual Measurement:
The client’s quality control process relied on manual inspection using vernier callipers to measure the inner and outer diameters of cartridges. However, due to the softness of the cartridge material—especially at the top—QA personnel were unsure how much pressure to apply, often leading to inconsistent and inaccurate measurements. This increased the risk of defective cartridges being approved, which in turn led to material leakage or even cartridge failure under pressure after dispatch. These quality issues had a direct impact on the reliability of the product and the client’s brand reputation.
Automated Vision System for Inspection:
We were commissioned to develop a vision-based dimensional inspection system that automates the measurement of:
- Inner diameter, outer diameter, and height of cartridges and the cartridge cap
- Height, inner diameter, and outer diameter of plungers
Using a combination of high-resolution industrial cameras, lighting control, and computer vision algorithms, the system performs real-time, non-contact measurements with high repeatability and precision.
This project reflects our expertise in delivering customized, high-precision vision systems that solve real-world manufacturing challenges and elevate quality control in high-throughput environments.
Key features:
1. Fully Automated Measurement – Eliminates human intervention, increasing speed and accuracy
2. Micron-Level Precision – Suitable for critical applications where even minor dimensional errors can cause failures
3. Real-Time Inspection Feedback – Immediate pass/fail decision on each unit
4. Data Logging & Reporting – Measurement results are logged for traceability and audit purposes
5. Flexible Design – Easily adaptable to different cartridge and plunger type
Benefits:
1. Eliminated Human Error – Standardized measurements across production batches
2. Improved Product Reliability – Minimized risk of cartridge leakage
3. Faster QA Process – Reduced inspection time per unit with higher confidence
4. Enhanced Brand Reputation – By ensuring product performance meets international quality standards
